In a small town in medieval Germany, the Jewish community celebrates Hanukkah with a twinkle in their eyes, but their joy is dampened when a stranger knocks on their door with bad news: “They are coming, they are coming in great numbers, hundreds of them, and they are accompanied by many people.”
With hatred in their hearts and blood on their hands, the Flagellants, a group of religious fanatics who wanted to forcibly tear Jews away from their most precious possession, their ancient faith, appeared in Germany.
The only way out they knew was to escape. Under the mysterious song of the snowflakes that formed high walls in the shimmering streets, many a sigh and departure was made. Now warm tears streamed down the frozen, suffering faces and turned into glistening ice droplets on the snow.
