On the surface, Chess is the story of Dr. B., who learns the intricacies of chess from a book he picked up by chance, turns the game into a passion and gradually develops brain fever because of this passion. But deep down it is actually a farewell letter. Written by Stefan Zweig while he was in exile in Brazil and completed a few months before his suicide in February 1942, Chess points to the destruction of European culture under the National Socialist threat. Chess was performed by master actor Cem Baza.
